Facebook Enhancement - Maiden Names for Married Women

April 24th, 2008

Name change kitWith the increasing number of users on facebook, and the average user age increasing, one fact is left untouched. How do you reconnect with someone you used to know under a different name? Many of my good friends from childhood are probably married now. They are very likely to have updated their facebook pages to have their new name. Married women are accustomed to updating their records as they go through life. If their husbands are anything like me, then hyphenating, even on Facebook, is “OUT OF THE QUESTION”. For a tool that is built to allow people to reconnect with one another, Facebook should allow users to enter previous names (i.e. maidenFacebook names, aliases) so that when I, as a potential friend, am trying to reconnect and determine if I know this person (but limited to a 2 by 2 thumbnail and a name), the system can show me the name(s) by which I might have known the person. Zoltar To GenX: Kids make toys for CEOs

February 23rd, 2008

ZoltarWho doesn’t want get a huge pad in NYC with an oversized trampoline and real arcade games? If you are reading this, this is probably within your reach.

As an entrepreneur that grew up in the 80’s, I was fascinated with the movie ‘Big’. While most movie watchers giggle at the dancing on keys scene, or shutter at the thought of what it would be like to hook up with an older woman, I sat back and thought… “Wow, what a concept, let the kids teach the businessmen how to make toys!”

Well, entreprenuers that were playing with Voltron while watching American Gladiators are ‘all growns up’ now and they are being asked to ‘make toys’ for big businesses. Nowadays though, the toys are websites, widgets, and concepts of what to do with this series of tubes known as ‘the internet’.

What businesses want now is to gain exposure over the web. Sure, businesses still hire coders, techies and engineers, but what businesses truly need is people to teach them how to reach the web community. Who better to teach these high-profile individuals than members of the high-percentage web community population. Companies NEED to hire youth to learn enough about the web to become a presence on it. It is no secret that older people fear technology. How many times have you heard of the little old lady that calls her grandson to help set her VCR?

While 3 year olds can’t communicate enough to tell a CEO how to make a go-bot, 17-27 year olds can speak just fine and have a lot to say about what drives traffic on the web.

Calling all free spirits with technical minds
